MANILA – A Philippine offshore gambling operator (POGO) and its accredited service provider were suspended by the Bureau of Internal Revenue on Wednesday for failure to register with the agency.
Imperial Choice Limited and Aplus Accel Inc have been closed for failure to register the first as required by the Tax Code and RA # 11590 or the new POGO law, the BIR said in a statement.
During a POGO task force operation, the Imperial and Aplus offices in Makati were closed.
âTheir business operations will remain suspended and business establishments will be temporarily closed until the Bureau’s registration requirements and other relevant tax regulations are met and the corresponding taxes and deficit penalties are paid,â the deputy said. – BIR commissioner for the Arnel SD operations group. âWe urge POGOs and all other taxpayers to comply with their obligations. We will continue to strictly enforce tax laws and increase much needed revenue for the government, especially during this pandemic, âGuballa added.
The tax administration attacks POGOs who have tax delinquencies.
Under changes to the country’s tax laws, which came into effect on December 3, 2021, the failure to register POGOs with the BIR is considered a fraudulent act.
